  • Ryzen 5 1400 CPU is an astounding feature to be included at this price
  • Has an Nvidia GTX 1050 2GB where competitors offer much lesser GPU’s
  • Bluetooth included
  • DVD-RW drive included
  • USB Type-C!

  • 300W PSU adequate for the current GPU but will need to be upgraded should a new GPU be in order
  • No SSD
  • The case doesn’t seem to have much gearing towards high airflow

Bottom Line

Quad-core hyperthreaded CPU’s have hit the budget mainstream market and never has there been a better time to get on board. With slightly compromised upgrade options for GPU, the RAM and storage are very easily upgraded yet this is still not enough to take the Budget King title away from the Envy.

Despite not having the GPU of our $800 or $1000 Top Pick, the HP Envy rocks the exact same CPU as our $1000 Top Pick, which is quite amazing at this price. Combined with the nice touches only an OEM can provide in the form of bluetooth and an understated appearance, the Envy stands out for it’s complete package at a bargain killer price – competitors have either much lesser GPU’s or nowhere near as fast a CPU yet has features no competitors offer.
